Anonymous asked » "are women in islam like you know oppressed?"

To answer your question, NO

Before Islam, there was the Age of Ignorance

Arab families would bury their children alive if they turned out to be girls. In the Quran, the question asks “For what crime did they commit” meaning what did they do to get such a punishment.

Khadijah bint Khuwailid, one of the influential women in Islamic history, was a business woman whereas in Greek and Roman histories, women were property of the man nevertheless

A man came to the Prophet Muhammad(SAW) and asked who should be given much respect after the Prophet SAW, and the Prophet SAW replied “Your mother”

Then another man came and asked the same question, the Prophet SAW still replied “Your mother”

Then another man came and asked the same question but the Prophet SAW still replied “Your mother”

Then finally, another man came and asked the same question, and the Prophet SAW replied “Your father”

The mother is 3x more worthy than the father why? They carry the fetus for almost 9 months in their stomach, going through their hormones estrogen and progesterone on steroids but they still have to raise the child, teach them good manners and so on

Abu Hurairah(RA) narrated that the Prophet SAW said “Jannah lies under the feet of your mothers”

See, women are put to the highest regards in Islam

Contrasting Judeo-Christian beliefs that God cursed Eve for convincing Adam to eat the apple from the Forbidden Tree and made childbirth a pain for women on earth. I think you can find this in Genesis, but still in Islam, Allah, the Most Gracious and Most Merciful puts the blame on BOTH Adam and Hawa for being beguiled by Shaitan.

Also, the words woman and man are mentioned equally 23 times in Islam. Islam calls for equality for women and if the examples I’ve given you don’t convince you that women in Islam are oppressed, then I don’t know what can
